3. Pick-up times

  • Arrivals are a given: the flight or train time is fixed (barring delays), so the pick-up follows it.
  • Departures must be calculated backwards from the flight or train time, taking into account travel time and the margin needed at the airport or station. This is where experience counts — e.g. from central Rome to Fiumicino in the morning rush hour it takes about 1h15–1h30.
  • VIT covers five countries and many cities and airports; even an experienced person may not know every route. When in doubt: ask the driver or the transfer company (giving flight, time and hotel — "what time do we need to leave to arrive three hours early?"), or use Google Maps correctly — not "leave now", but selecting the exact day and time of the transfer, because Maps forecasts traffic even months ahead. In any case, the final validation comes from the driver. Experience, never presumption.
